Local Love & Community Connection: Celebrating May

This may has been a special month for us at Still Sisters. Not just because we get two bank holidays, we’ve also been graced with some uncharacteristically glorious British sunshine! It feels like nature itself is celebrating alongside us – reminding us how lucky we are to be part of such a vibrant, caring and connected community.

A Month of Local Events

There’s just something magical about seeing our community come to life under blue skies. This month, we’ve been soaking up the energy at our local markets – from the vibrant Weavers Market to the ever-spirited Frome Indie. These events aren’t just a chance to showcase local talent and creativity – they’re a celebration of what makes our towns feel like home. We’ve loved seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones, sharing stories, and feeling that incredible sense of belonging.

We were also honoured to meet the Madam Mayor of Bath at the Satirev Show. Events like these remind us why supporting local arts and culture is so important. When we connect with others who share our values and passion for community, it fills us with even more determination to keep pushing for positive change.

Charity and Community Safety Initiatives

Our charity work continues to inspire us. This month, we met with our chosen charity, Fear Free, to discuss our next event – the Inflatable 5K in July. We’re so excited to tackle the challenge as a team, raising funds and awareness while showing that making a difference can be a joyful, spirited endeavour. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates – we can’t wait to share the journey with you!

Community safety is something we hold close to our hearts. We recently met with our Pubwatch, police and Wiltshire Council licencing to discuss ways to keep our venues safe and welcoming. Working together with other local businesses, we’re committed to creating a friendly, safe environment every night. We were thrilled to have our efforts recognised in the local news – it’s a true testament to what we can achieve when we stand together. Watch this space for the press release!

High Street Positivity

We’re buzzing with excitement to chat with Laura from High Street Positives this week. Our high streets are more than just shops – they’re the heartbeats of our community. We believe in shifting the narrative to focus on the good, the growth, and the shared responsibility we all have in keeping our town centres thriving. We love what Laura is doing, and we can’t wait to support Laura’s positive high street mission.

Training and Awareness

At Still Sisters, we believe that creating safe, inclusive spaces starts with each of us stepping up and being active bystanders in our communities. That’s why we’re committed to ongoing learning, and this month, we’re focusing on anti-harassment training through the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.

Imagine a world where everyone felt empowered to step in when it was needed most – where looking out for one another was second nature. That’s the vision behind the Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s training, and it’s a cause we’re passionate about supporting. By learning to be proactive and supportive, we can make our community not just safer but more compassionate and united.

If you can spare some time, we wholeheartedly encourage you to take part – because every small action counts when it comes to making a difference. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels safe and supported.

Celebrating Community and Connection

This month of May sees Metastatic Day on May 23rd. We’re honoured to support Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity, providing gin for the bar as they champion the stories and strength of women living with secondary breast cancer. Their work is vital, and we’re humbled to play even a small part in their journey. Support/Donate and find more here https://futuredreams.org.uk/

At Still Sisters, our mission has always been rooted in love, community, and connection. This month, we’re reflecting on how lucky we are to be part of such a vibrant, supportive network. We couldn’t do it without you – our friends, our families, our fellow business owners, and, of course, our wonderful customers. Your belief in us keeps our passion burning bright.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Let’s keep leading with purpose, love, and connection. Here’s to a sunny, hope-filled May!
